Comprehensive Eye Examination
With the increasing reliance on electronic devices in our daily lives, more and more people are not only using computers at work but also constantly using smartphones, even browsing social media while waiting for transportation. Prolonged and excessive use of the eyes can lead to the early onset of eye disorders, such as severe myopia,Eye Floaters, and even conditions like strained ciliary muscles and increased eye pressure, which can trigger glaucoma.
Many early symptoms of eye disease are unnoticeable and do not have a significant impact on vision. But when we get used to it and neglected its severity all along, the damage irreversible could have been occurred to our eyesight. Therefore, it is essential to have regular eye examinations. The comprehensive eye examination programme is a detailed ophthalmic and optometric check conducted by a registered optometrist. In addition to detecting common eye problems such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and amblyopia, it allows for the timely detection of more serious eye diseases such as early retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
Why do I need a comprehensive eye examination?
In general, eye diseases are not easily detected except for those affecting vision, so an in-depth eye examination is needed to find out if your eyes are in good shape. People with family history of eye disease and those at risk (e.g. adults aged over 40) are having a higher risk of eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal degeneration. For above members, regular comprehensive eye examinations should be conducted to help detect eye problems early and receive appropriate treatment.
A comprehensive eye examination involves more in-depth visual testing, carefully examining the internal structure of the eye, and working with the professional judgment of a medical professional to look for any potential symptoms or conditions.
